ICE 70 Grand Comfort and ICE 52 RS Anniversary are the two head*turning world premieres Ice Yachts is presenting at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023.

Both models are the result of collaboration with the FELCI YACHT DESIGN studio together with the yard‘s technical office. As usual, the focus is on quality and comfort, the hallmarks that have enabled the Italian shipyard to establish itself as a high quality shipyard on the sailing market.

In addition to becoming true icons, ICE YACHTS boats interpret the meaning of boating with style and great comfort on board without losing sight of sailing performance, which is truly exceptional.
The study of water lines by the FELCI studio and the yard’s desire to make fast and comfortable boats have resulted in these two astonishing new models.

ICE YACHTS 70 GRAND COMFORT

This yacht is a source of pride for the shipyard because it denotes its continuous and steady expansion after the successes of the previous two models.

ICE YACHTS 70 Grand Comfort  is a technologically advanced boat with ample comfortable interior and exterior spaces, easy to manage without sacrificing performance and safety.

ICE-YACHTS-70.jpg

Many other details, to be discovered by climbing aboard, highlight how the deck study was conducted in the search for a synthesis between a deck ideal for relaxed cruising life and that of seamanship and efficiency, necessary during long-distance sailing or racing.

Particularly elegant as well as functional are the maxi dodger and the double bimini shade to protect the helmsman and guest cockpit. All intended to emphasize the focus of the Ice 70 Grand Comfort, which is precisely comfort.

Following the success of the previous model, at the stern we find the seats that have been extended towards the middle of the boat, thus offering two chaise lounges and allowing more storage space.

The main essence used in the furnishings is teak left natural, the first message of how classicism and nautical tradition can be married with the contemporary. The inserts that cover the vertical walls and create a continuum throughout the living spaces are made of natural leather.

Teak dunnage, with dark wenge slats, runs longitudinally from stern to bow, stylistically tying all rooms together.

ICE-YACHTS-70-GC-interior

The aft area of this ICE YACHTS 70 GRAND COMFORT is arranged with the captain’s cabin, communicating with the galley area, is completely self-contained to ensure considerable privacy for the owner and his guests.

The forward area is dedicated to the master cabin, which is spacious and elegant with a master bathroom complete with shower and sauna all lined in teak and with a small study where one can retire in absolute tranquillity. The guest cabin comes complete with double bed and ample closets and a dedicated bathroom.

ICE YACHTS  52 RS ANNIVERSARY, the latest example of ICE 52

Goose

Again, as written in the article dedicated to the “Goose“, the innovations on board are definitely many, from the study of the new bulb, the new mast, the exposed carbon fiber details, which trace the modern classic style, a signature of the ICE YACHTS and FELCI YACHT DESIGN duo together with many other novelties on display at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

ICE YACHTS is therefore waiting for you in Port Canto to unveil these two marvels that we look forward to testing at sea.

The most interesting boats at Cannes Yachting Festival 2023

A great number of fascinating boats will have their world debut at Cannes Yachting Festival 2023. We have selected a few of them to tell you about, waiting for the opportunity to experience them live.

Sea Ray SPX210 OB

cannes yachting festival 2023 searay.jpgThe outboard version of the Sea Ray 210 SPX, the OB model is a bowrider (“archetype of the family powerboat”) in ”European style” that simultaneously preserves the specificity of the genre. The transmission mode, which is more economical in terms of maintenance, makes it easier to access shallow water areas without affecting the sportiness of the boat in any way. A fun, high-performance outboard craft for comfortable sea trips, which will be world premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023.

Lomac Granturismo 14.0

cannes yachting festival 2023 lomac granturismoA 14-meter semi-rigid boat, it constitutes the perfect balance of design, comfort and performance. The hulls are optimized through specific studies, the lamination is built by vacuum infusion of vinylester resins, the gelcoat is neopentyl and aramid fibers to reinforce t-top, deck and hull. Last but not least, the design is 100% made in Italy. Another world premiere we can’t wait to enjoy.

Cormate T-28

cannes yachting festival 2023 CORMATE T28A Norwegian-designed monohull with outstanding finishes and remarkable details, the Cormate T-28 combines the ease of use of a center console with the comfort of a day cruiser, and offers an open and inviting layout that allows easy access to all of the boat’s outdoor spaces. A boat to enjoy day and night, which we are sure will be among the most welcome world premieres at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023.

Practical information about Cannes Yachting Festival 2023

As every year, the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 will stretch between the Vieux Port and Port Canto, with motorboats, their equipment, and the “luxury gallery” on one side; and the sailing universe, brokerage space, and nautical toys on the other. A sea shuttle service connecting the two ports is accessible to all visitors and exhibitors, with three boarding points at Vieux Port and two points at Port Canto. Departures approximately every fifteen minutes.

For the third consecutive year, the Cannes Yachting Festival ticketing will be 100% digital, so there will be no ticket sales at the show’s entrances.

The Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 is now only a few days away, and the Novara-based maxi rib manufacturer Scanner Marine will once again be present. This major international event will take place from September 12 to 17, 2023 in the magical location of the French Riviera, will gather together the most important players from all over the world, and will also be the opener of this year’s boat show season.

Scanner Marine will participate not only in the upcoming French show, but also in the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, which will be held in the Ligurian capital from September 21 to 26. Thanks to these two occasions, the shipyard will thus have the opportunity to showcase the legendary quality of its Made in Italy products in these two stunning showcases.

Given the international relevance of Scanner Marine Maxi Ribs, at the Cannes Yachting Festival the Italian shipyard will exhibit as many as 3 boats.

The first model to be exhibited at Vieux Port in Cannes at STAND PAN 082 will be a Scanner Envy 1200 HT in outboard version, featuring two 425-hp engines and Hard Top. The second model on display will be a Scanner Envy 1100 TT, with inboard and T-Top engines, and last will be a Scanner Envy 1100 HT in outboard version with the new 350-hp Mercury V10 engines. At the 63rd Genoa Boat Show, on the other hand, the Novara-based shipyard will be present in the Maxi Rib area with an Envy 1200 HT outboard model.

Scanner Marine-1300But the surprises don’t end there… at these major international events Scanner Marine will also announce its two big premieres for 2024:

Scanner Envy 1300 Speedboat, a 13-meter open Rib that will make speed and adrenaline its strong point, and which fits well into the Scanner range to satisfy the demands of all boat owners.

And the new flagship, Scanner Envy 1500: a 15-meter boat with T-Top capable of welcoming its guests and making them feel at home thanks to the large spaces on board, while managing to give great thrills to anyone who takes the helm given the remarkable performance signed Scanner Marine.
Scanner-Marine-Envy-1500

In late September, after the two major boat shows in Cannes and Genoa, the shipyard will hold its annual “Scanner Days” event in Varazze: three days (September 29 and 30, and October 1) when all customers can meet and test the different models, gather information and create social moments to celebrate the brand.

“For Scanner Marine the Cannes and Genoa boat shows represent the beginning of the season, they are the sensor that also allows us to understand how this period will go, and they are a wonderful opportunity to meet all our dealers,” says Scanner Marine Sales Manager Fabio Montemitro. For us, the Cannes Yachting Festival is very important, having many international dealers this location is the perfect hangout where we can exchange opinions and advice, creating nice moments of sharing and meeting new customers.”

It is called Project Maverick and is the new floating showroom of the Quick Group, the international leader in the marine equipment industry. The result of the extensive 8-mont refit of a 1996 Falcon 80 motor yacht, Project Maverick will serve as a remarkable demo boat and ongoing R&D vessel for growing product portfolio of the Ravenna-base company, which will use it as a floating showroom for its leading-edge yachting technologies.

So let’s get to know the extraordinary work carried out by Quick for the restyling of this boat and above all the innovative equipment on board, in anticipation of admiring it live. Project Maverick will in fact be premiered at the Genoa Boat Show, scheduled to take place from 21 to 26 September.

project-maverick-quick.jpg

Project Maverick: the restyling by Aldo Parisotto

The layout of Project Maverick was revised by architect Aldo Parisotto with the aim of making the boat suitable both as a family cruiser and accommodate more guests, both media and clients, for sea trial purposes. The jewel in the vessel’s crown is the striking interior and exterior lighting system Arcipelago Capsule Collection, designed by Parisotto+Formenton Architetti exclusively for the Quick Marine Lighting brand.

project-maverick_Quick_Falcon-80“I was attracted by the idea of upcycling a motor yacht from the ’90s and imbuing it with a dual function as a regular family yacht and as a demo boat for today’s cutting-edge technology by Quick – says Aldo Pariotto – For example, the layout has been rethought to make the circulation flow more fluid and the galley is now more like a show kitchen in a top restaurant.”

The fly deck has also been restyled by removing the tender crane and moving the tender to the new boat and swim platform by Sanguineti Chiavari in the stern (the Quick Group acquired 100% of company earlier this year), freeing up more space for guests. Just as importantly, the shipyard paid special attention to the use of sustainable solutions such as synthetic teak for both the interior and exterior materials.

The showroom in detail

Designed as floating showroom, Project Maverick includes all Quick’s top products and systems. Apart from Quick chain counter, remote controls, inverter, battery charger, water heaters and QNN, the main onboard systems include:

  • MC2 Seacentric System: the stabilisation system includes Viator fins, Intercepta trim tabs and Quick Gyro stabilizer. Powered by synchronous electric motors, Viator fins are very quiet but also extremely compact, allowing them to be easily retrofitted on yachts like the Falcon 80. The Intercepta trim tabs are a plug-and-play system that thanks to proprietary software is completely integrated with the fins to read the hull dynamics and coordinate movements in varying sea conditions. Combined with the well-established Quick Gyro, this system represents the new frontier of onboard stabilisation.
  • XR6 windlass: The new XR6 model expands the historic range of XROY windlasses with AC, DC electric motor and hydraulic motors. The new model is characterised by an engine power ranging from 3 kW to 5.5 kW with a maximum working load of up to 1700 kg.

  • BTAC 300S thruster propellers: The new synchronous, double propellers installed on the Falcon are the first step towards a technological revolution of the BTAC range equipped with asynchronous motors. With the same wattage, thrust, performance and absorption, the new synchronous motor of the BTAC 300S propeller weighs 70% less and is 30% more compact than the corresponding asynchronous model.

  • Arcipelago Capsule Collection: A versatile and innovative lighting solution for indoor and outdoor spaces designed by Parisotto+Formenton Architetti. The collaboration has resulted from the convergence of shared visions on contemporary lighting in nautical environments and a common love for the sea. Furthermore, the LED light sources have a wide range of mounting options and they are powered by high-efficiency integrated drivers for powerful, energy-efficient lighting with an expected lifetime of several thousand hours.

  • Platform by Sanguineti Chiavari: The hydraulically actuated stern platform allows the automatic lifting, hauling and launching of the tender. The structure is entirely made of anodized aluminum and comes complete with hull bracket and internal counter flange for fixing to the boat. It also has a locking system in the fully raised position to guarantee security even in the event of a system failure.

“We set out on Quick_Falcon-80_master-bedroomthis adventure to create a test bed to develop the integration software so that everything works perfectly together, not only our own products but also with the autopilot, navigation electronics, comms and remote diagnostic, and so on – says Michele Marzucco, CEO of Quick – The hardware is one thing, but the software development is going on continuously behind the scenes and never stops. The boat is a fantastic vehicle for trying out Quick systems on the water, but it is also an ongoing R&D tool for us to further perfect the technologies involved.”

PRESTIGE M8: Camillo Garroni does not innovate but, literally, reinvents the motor catamaran.

The launch of the new Prestige M8 finally breaks the mold of a market exaggeratedly accustomed to considering motor catamarans as surrogates (without masts) for a multi-hulled sailboat. In this context, Camillo Garroni not only innovates but literally reinvents the motor catamaran, finally giving it its own specific connotation, made of form and substance, effectively creating a new market segment that simply did not exist before.

PRESTIGE M8 is a cutting-edge boat that, in 20 meters, manages to give spaces, functions and settings that are typical only of large motor superyachts. A novelty that we just could not refrain from analyzing in detail.

The new PRESTIGE M8 in detail

It is hard not to be immediately captivated by the new PRESTIGE M8 which, despite her considerable size, flaunts a light sinuous and captivating line, distant light years from the squat and cubic design to which the multihull market had accustomed us in recent years.

The masterful hand of Camillo Garroni skillfully shapes the concave and convex surfaces of this catamaran, which, enhanced by chromatic contrasts, on the one hand celebrate the beauty of these lines, but on the other manage to clothe the new PRESTIGE M8 with a unique design that is certainly destined not to age over time.

But the design of this catamaran does not just impress at first glance, it goes far beyond that, permeating the very soul of this boat, which admirably succeeds in synthesizing form and function into a perfect cocktail, capable of eliminating any barrier between the sea and the craft itself.

A very clear example of this is the main deck, which, thanks to a clever use of windows and reflective surfaces, extends its boundaries far beyond the physical limit of its albeit enormous dimensions, reaching out to conquer the outdoor spaces in a way that is almost imperceptible to the senses. Thus the spaces range from an immense living room, very reminiscent of the style of a Miami waterfront villa, to this huge terrace that gives an unparalleled contact with its surroundings.

From here we descend to the beach area aft where a movable platform of more than four meters, made especially for this boat, comes alive and becomes a precious descent to the sea or, wanting to dream all the way, allows dining at the water’s edge when fully extended.

Going along the side-decks, we finally reach the bow, which, taking advantage of the almost nine meters of beam offered by the PRESTIGE M8, accommodates a simply immense sundeck and another salon capable of accommodating 8/10 guests with a privileged panoramic view.

As many as two staircases lead to the flybridge, which, thanks to its fifty square meters of surface area, gives sufficient (and abundant) space to the external helm station, a table for 8/10 guests, a bar cabinet, sofas and chaises longues.

As mentioned above, it is difficult not to be fascinated by the more than 350 square meters of this boat, although – it seems unbelievable – these dimensions are even more striking in the sleeping area.
It is here that we find the owner’s apartment, a true 30-plus-square-meter suite that takes advantage of the boat’s maximum beam to provide space for a king-size bed, a walk-in closet, and a private four-seat lounge. Equally enormous is the bathroom, which includes two sinks, a shower, and a cleverly separated toilet room.

The other cabins are spread across the two hulls and, depending on which version is chosen, galley up or down, there can be four or five, always with private en suite facilities. The version I definitely prefer is the galley down, which, while making the main deck even more beautiful, also takes advantage of the starboard hull to house the galley and a double cabin that can be dedicated to the captain although, in the bow, two more crew cabins can be accommodated.

In this version, the port hull accommodates two VIP cabins equipped with queen-size beds and larger than usual size.

For large families or owners who like to have the boat always full of guests, there is also a 5-cabin version that certainly optimizes the space dedicated to sleeping even more by bringing the galley to the main deck.

Lastly, there is also a very clever 4-cabin Galley Up version, which allows the port hull to basically accommodate a second Master Cabin, equipped with a private lounge.

The new PRESTIGE M8 is not only wonderful but, to a careful eye, it also proves to be able to satisfy many needs: basically a catamaran built in semi-custom mode… This concept is also confirmed by the choice of the interior designer, Valentina Militerno de Romedis who, again with great mastery, furnishes this boat with exquisite taste, making possible a great choice of materials and colors and, again, allowing the creation of a very custom boat, just as is done with superyachts.
But on the other hand, this PRESTIGE M8 a superyacht in its own right, both in terms of size and the great finishing work that, evidently, the Monfalcone shipyard manages to produce.

Sea Trial

Comfort is the primary concept around which Marc Lombard (another great name) has developed the naval engineering of the two hulls that, as mentioned above, give the new PRESTIGE M8 the ability to navigate almost flawlessly.

At the helm the feeling is of total control, from the flybridge the view sweeps 360° giving a great feeling of safety. I put my hand on the throttles and accelerate slowly, we are not aboard a speedboat, but a great catamaran, a boat that deserves respect.

We cruise, of course, with a stability unmatched by any monohull and, in this case, also in absolute silence, a decidedly wonderful way of boating. At 8 knots we are cruising on velvet and, thanks to the hydrodynamics that only a catamaran makes possible, we consume less than 20 liters per hour, or less than 3 liters per nautical mile! This speed is not only economical but also makes possible a very low level of emissions for a boat of this size.

Even at 10 knots PRESTIGE M8 consumes very little, less than 4 liters per mile, a true record, certainly due to the meticulous work Marc Lombard has done with these two hulls.

The boat navigates in pure displacement mode up to about 10 knots then detaches two parallel wakes, one from each of the two hulls, clears the water and gets up on plane. Between 14 and 16 knots we are going in fast cruise mode, which is useful for escaping bad weather or simply reaching our destination quickly. At these speeds we clearly consume more, about 12 liters per mile, but still far, far less than what a motor monohull would do.

At full throttle PRESTIGE M8 easily reaches 21 knots, a speed we can hold for a limited time, but which can be useful in getting us out of trouble on more than one occasion.

At maximum speed I perform a couple of turns that our catamaran tackles without uncertainty, in complete safety, then through without decelerating the waves caused by a large passing boat. PRESTIGE M8 cuts through the large wave coming forward without the structure joining the two hulls impacting the wave, an excellent feature, quite unique for a catamaran. This quality certainly comes from the star design that Lombard has given to this structure, a real touch of genius.

I slow down and stop, the stability is impressive, PRESTIGE M8 just won’t roll! Spending the nights at anchor will be a five-star experience aboard this yacht.

I engage one throttle forward and another backward, at idle, just to try and see how this CAT evolves, and immediately it begins to turn in place, with absolute precision. Okay I get it, mooring this superyacht is a piece of cake, very comfortable indeed.

PRESTIGE M8 has definitely won me over, in every way.

As many as nine boats, all fascinating and luxurious, will be exhibited by Absolute Yachts at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023, scheduled to take place from September 12-17. The Italian shipyard, a leader in the construction of luxury yachts from 47 to 73 feet, will be present in the Pantiero area on booth PAN 214 – 089 with nine boats in the water, including three from the Fly range, five from the Navetta range, and a sportier one, the Absolute 48 Coupé.

The greatest expectation is for the Flybridge range, and in particular for the new 52 Fly (in the opening photo), a revolutionary boat that represents a radically different direction
in marine architecture. Everything in its ground-breaking design is intended to ensure an exceptional cruising experience, with sensations of comfort heightened by ample headroom, a minimal use of steps, extensive glazing and many other detail touches that of course include, as suggested by the name of the range itself, a stunning flybridge from which to enjoy the view over the sea. The other yachts in the Flybridge family that will be in Cannes are the 56 Fly and 60 Fly.

Absolute Yachts Navetta 75
Absolute Navetta 75

As far as the Navetta series is concerned, the five yachts on display will include the award-winning Navetta 75 that won the Best Interior Design prize at World Yachts Trophies 2022. Like all Absolute yachts, the Navetta 75 offers a sensation of generous space, giving the impression of a vessel of even greater size. The aft deck features Absolute’s signature cockpit terrace, which enhances the feel of a boundless cruising experience by highlighting the sea view. It is furnished with loose modular units that can be arranged as desired according to the occasion. The staterooms comprise a superb master suite in the bows for optimum silence and privacy, with large hullside windows and a spectacular full-beam bathroom. The Navetta 75 will be accompanied by four other Navetta models, 64, 58, 52 and 48.

Last but not Absolute 48 Coupéleast, the Absolute’s booth at Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 will also host the Absolute 48 Coupé, a yacht that fully embodies the sporty soul of luxury yachting, in which the brand’s
impeccable comfort is accompanied by dynamic lines and bold style. The spacious cockpit features open gunwales and glazed stern balustrades, while the saloon has extensive glazing offering 360° visibility. Three superb staterooms below offer liveability unparalleled for yachts of this size.

In addition to the boats on display, Absolute Yachts’ commitment at Cannes 2023 will be to express its high attention to environmental sustainability. The presence of solar panels on the roof of the Absolute 48 Coupé goes in this direction. On the other hand, Absolute Yachts’ production yard also covers an area of 48,000 square metres with a very low environmental impact, thanks to energy-saving technologies such as geothermal energy and solar panels, an air filtering and purification system and sustainable management of waste materials. For this and other reasons, Absolute is synonymous with experience, innovation and practicality, and its boats are appreciated all over the world. We are therefore certain that Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 will be yet another confirmation for the shipyard.

Motorboats from 8 to 12 meters: a growing market segment

Whether traditional or equipped with inflatable tubulars, these boats are usually fitted with a cabin but do not have a real sleeping berth. These boats are highly versatile for day trips as well as short cruises along the coast. They have inboard or outboard engines, often chosen by the leisure boat owner.

Since 2021, with a yachting industry that’s booming, leisure boat owners and new buyers have shown clear interest in this type of small motorboat usually known as ‘dayboats’, which, as its name suggests, makes it possible to spend the day at sea in the best conditions.

CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL 2023

This year we are pleased to provide this new marina for our exhibitors and visitors, which opens up the festival’s in-water display to boats under 10m (32ft) for the first time. The Cannes Yachting Festival will accommodate around 50 small boats in the heart of the Vieux Port – explains Sylvie Ernoult, director of Cannes Yachting Festival – From the model exuding Scandinavian style to the dayboat that is ideal for diving passing through technology-packed gems, our visitors, professionals, and the general public will enjoy finding in-water the best in terms of design, innovation and performance in this market segment.”

ICE YACHTS LAUNCHES ITS 17TH ICE 52

ICE YACHTS 52 “Goose” is the ICE 52 no. 17 launched by the shipyard as a part of the RS series which includes the lighter, sporty and high-performance models of the brand.

The metallic selenite gray color scheme, reminiscent of a sports car livery, fits perfectly on the elegant and aggressive lines of the Felci Yacht Design hull, also highlighted by the absence of glass. The 3.5-mm Plasdeck synthetic teak deck covering contrasts with the white-painted deckhouse while the cockpit retains the hull colors.

The innovations of the new ICE YACHTS 52

The new features presented on this new ICE YACHTS 52 “Goose” promise a major increase in performance. The new keel layout is the result of a design by the Felci studio, which developed new lines for both the fin and the numerically controlled milled bulb, bringing the overall depth to 3.2m.

The new mast is made of high module carbon fiber and is set up for a square top mainsail, with double backstays and adjustable shrouds from dedicated winches. Harken’s 65.3 carbon 3-speed winches allow the full potential of the increased sail plan to be exploited, as well as enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the deck equipment.

The 110hp Yanmar 2.0 engine allows to enjoy an excellent motor boating experience and is equipped with sail drive transmission.

Layout and interior

The interior layout of this new ICE YACHTS 52 has been adapted for family use, with two large three-person aft cabins served by a bathroom, and the forward master cabin with en-suite head. This maximizes the union of galley and dinette volumes, creating space and brightness that balance the absence of hull glass. All interior spaces are embellished by the use of real teak, at the owners’ request, and exposed carbon fiber details, which trace the modern classic style that is now a signature of the ICE YACHTS and FELCI YACHT DESIGN duo.

The systems have been adapted to the standards required by the Caribbean climate of the Cayman Islands, the destination of the new ICE 52 RS. In fact, a new 40000BTU air conditioning system has been installed for all rooms, powered by a 6kW generator in addition to the batteries. The owner chose B&G for the on-board electronics, which can be controlled from the two consoles and chart area.

ICE-YACHT-52-CONSOLE

Another jewel of the sea from ICE YACHTS that will soon therefore turn the heads of the many sailors who cannot help but admire this magnificent yacht.

PRESTIGE YACHTS, the art of sophisticated living

Backed by decades of experience, PRESTIGE YACHTS represents the pinnacle of French nautical engineering. Today, this willingness to innovate and offer cutting-edge products has resulted in the birth of the new PRESTIGE F4.

During the presentation held in Portopiccolo, Erwin Bamps, Vice President of PRESTIGE YACHTS tells us that this model “innovates to meet customers’ expectations while remaining true to the brand’s DNA.”, and it is from this strong identity that PRESTIGE F4 literally amazed us.

Thanks to Camillo Garroni, the designer of the new model, who has already launched many best sellers in boating, the new PRESTIGE F4 inherits all the elegance of its predecessor and blends the experience of the past with the needs of modern boat owners.

The new PRESTIGE F4 in detail

Arriving at Porto Piccolo, it is Camillo himself who welcomes us aboard the PRESTIGE F4 with a warm welcome, and immediately we realize how much work has been done to replicate the success already achieved by the previous model.

The stern is impressive, with a really spacious platform, but it is going up on deck that we get the real surprise as everything is laid out to be comfortable and functional.

PRESTIGE F4 at sea

A table longitudinal to the boat with two sofas on either side allow six people to have dinner comfortably, and best of all, even at high speed I have personally found that it is possible to talk in total comfort without excessive wind and noise. It is also possible to choose a different layout, with an L-shaped sofa and a table transverse to the boat.

On the port side we find the staircase to get on the flybridge, which the shipyard decided to expand further, increasing the surface of the steps to make it even easier to move from below to above and vice versa. Below it space is positioned to accommodate a very practical and capacious external refrigerator.

The large horizontal compass-shaped window set alongside the entry door gives light to the interior and allows natural ventilation while leaving 360-degree visibility. The OceanView galley and the location of the master suite are key features of the PRESTIGE F4.

galley

Exteriors

The side decks of this PRESTIGE F4 are stunning, really spacious both in height and width, allowing a comfortable passage to the bow; a handrail placed above the large window accompanies the walkway along its entire length. Here is a sundeck conceived and designed to provide a really comfortable area for four people. Cushioning wraps around the entire central part, leaving plenty of room for walking.

Wider side windows and sporty hull lines are the perfect combination for this model that acquires a large yacht flavor while remaining under 20 meters in length. Stepping onto the Flybridge we find all over the aft beam a large L-shaped sofa with a chaise-longue on the right that would be the envy of a 70-footer.

To our left as we climb aboard is the helm console and to the side an additional L-shaped sofa flanking the station, again allowing three people to lie down in comfort.

Interior

It is inside that Italian design really comes to life, adding boldness and beauty to the spaces, which are rich in both volume and light. The exquisite materials and rich finishes are the right mix of comfort and design; curved wood and woven wicker are just some of the details that make the boat truly captivating, Inspired by the colors and reflections of the French Riviera with an unparalleled level of quality.

The layout of each individual component is designed to offer quality of life and greater privacy on board, now a real must for PRESTIGE YACHTS.

helm station

To the left of the entrance, the galley is designed to be experienced as if it were outside; in fact, the compass window, when open, creates truly practical visibility for the cook, with the sink and burners being placed in such a way that those using them have ample visibility towards the stern.

A refrigerator and a cabinet placed on the beam delimit the galley area from the center of the boat where a large L-shaped sofa encompasses the entire central and side area of the boat, leaving space for the interior steering console on the right.

A lateral window placed on the starboard side, between the galley cabinet and the helm seat, allows to go out amidships in the event of emergency needs and especially can be used to ventilate the boat on hot days, without having to resort to air conditioning.

From the helm console the visibility is good, the two Garmin monitors placed at the sides allow all the information we need to navigate to be read, at the side of the steering wheel the shipyard has arranged the pushbuttons and the on-board controls. The staircase placed in the middle gives us access to the sleeping area.

Sleeping area

The master cabin with the entrance placed on the starboard side offers an exceptional interior volume, very bright thanks to two large windows placed on both sides that literally flood the entire surface.

Equipped with a king-size bed that laterally leaves room for walking, a generous wardrobe, a large bathroom with two sinks, separate shower and 2 meters of headroom, it has nothing to envy from what can be found on a larger yacht.

In the stern, on the other hand, two twin cabins can be used with two separate beds or a single double bed, both served by a midships head. Here, too, side windows facilitate the entry of natural light and allow good visibility to the outside.

A relaxing atmosphere

Everything is thought out and designed to provide an inviting atmosphere, with the use of refined colors, high-quality fabrics, and special attention to the space layout. This at least is the feeling we had while climbing aboard. Personally, I appreciated the abundance of space and natural light in all rooms.

PRESTIGE F4 Sea Trial

We leave the Port calmly given the beautiful sunny day and little wind; the sea is almost a board and we just have to give a little throttle to immediately appreciate the balance of this boat.

The helm station allows excellent visibility and the large windows make it really easy for us to keep an eye on the whole boat. The two VOLVO IPS 650 (D6 – 480 HP/HP) come into their own even at low revs. At 1000 rpm we reach 5.5 knots with a consumption of 8 L/h, increasing the throttle takes us to 2000 rpm and the speed is around 10 knots with consumption around 43 L/h.

The internal noise is practically nil, there are 5 of us in the saloon and we chat like in the living room at home. Bringing the boat to 2500 rpm we feel that the hull begins to plane and it is enough to increase 500 rpm to see the wake detach and feel all the balance and power of this hull, which between 3000 and 3500 finds the right balance with speeds on 21/23 knots and consumption between 120 and 140 L/h .

PRESTIGE F4: speed and comfort

Just at this speed I decide to perform a couple of tight turns to get a better feel for how the boat reacts, I pass several times in my own wake realizing the stability and handling. The right beam, the right hull shape, make everything stay easy and safe.

We speed up again until 3400 rpm, we are travelling at 23 knots with a consumption of 150 L/h. This is the cruising speed, the boat is in perfect trim and glides over the sea slicing through the water.

Cruising at 23 knots with the boat maintaining a respectable trim is really pleasant, especially since we are still chatting in absolute relaxation. The new model from PRESTIGE YACHTS represents an excellent combination therefore of cruising, sportiness and elegance, with a comfort on board that really amazed me and made me particularly love this model.

The return to port is accompanied by the latest descriptions and information from Camillo who as always, loving his job, makes true icons in the yacht world and I assure you that this will be the next one. The appointment is at the next Cannes Yachting Festival where the new flagship of PRESTIGE YACHTS will have its official debut.

Orient Express Racing Team sails for the first time, America’s Cup has its sixth claimant

With the maiden sail of their beautiful French AC40 yacht, the Orient Express Racing Team base at the western end of the Port Vell became an operational sailing base the day before yesterday. The date has a very important historic value since it marks the 170th anniversary of the first running of what would become the America’s Cup back in 1851.

On August 22nd, 1851, in fact, the first race around the Isle of Wight kicked off, with the French yacht ‘America’ being fitted out at a government shipyard in Le Havre before setting sail to beat the best of the British fleet.

However, it was only 100 years later, more precisely in 1970, that the first challenge was launched under the ‘Tricolour’ flag of France by Baron Bich who, Italian by birth, made his fortune with the famous BIC ballpoint pen. Challenges from France came thick and fast through the period of the 12 Metre era, into the IACC generation and then into the catamarans. In 2021, the French chose not to enter but now they are back with an exciting, youthful and very determined challenge.

Indeed, Quentin Delapierre and Kevin Peponnet, after taking charge of their AC40, braved a glassy sea and the almost total absence of wind in a short practice session just off the beach in Barcelona. In these conditions and without becoming discouraged, Orient Express Racing Team hoisted the sails and tried to catch a few puffs to get the boat taking off, which, rising on foils, marks an important new chapter for French sailing.

After the short but fruitful training session, a beaming as much as determined Quentin Delapierre said: “We just need to take it step by step, take the days after days and just solve problems, find ideas, new ideas will be helpful, and yeah I don’t want the team to rush themselves and try to like catch the others because they are, I mean, so many sailing sessions in front of us and we just have to make it simple, be really focused on what are the essentials and yeah make it happen in Villanova with the boat in good shape and able to just race the Villanova racing.”

A pretty good feeling actually. It’s been one and a half weeks since we received the AC40, and the team had a big push just to the commissioning and solve the little problem we had, so really good feeling today to sail the boat – added Quentin Delapierre, co-helmsman of Orient Express Racing Team – Today I was surprised, really flat water but also really light so we just managed to foil, I mean get on the foil, and with the RIB towing the yacht we were able to do it and the feeling onboard was really good but I know that in Barcelona will not be the same every day, we will have choppy waves and some swells so yeah we have to be prepared for those conditions but I’m really impressed about the autopilot I never saw something like this, the boat was really steady, and yeah really impressed.”

Led by Stephan Kandler, the Orient Express Racing Team is under no illusions just how hard it will be to be competitive at the upcoming Regatta in Vilanova i La Geltrú, but the French are renowned as being some of the best racing sailors in the world and with the current generation of talent supported by experienced heads in the team such as Franck Cammas, the learning curve will be steep but rewarding.
